With my spinal problems I could not stand up. I had to do some serious work to remove the chair from under me, then do a lot of butt scooting to get out of the shower, then the bathroom, to my bed room for a long shirt and then back down the hall way to the office for my phone. It took me 2 1/2 hours to get to the phone. The little called paramedics and hours later I had a CAT scen on my noggin and xrays of my spine. I am okay but hugely sore today and they discovered nodules on my thyroid which are benign almost all the time but they must be treated.
So, there you go.
Plans for a Memorial Day cookout were squashed but, it's not a day to celebrate really anyway. My family and I had a little picnic in the ER.
The hot dogs, chicken poppers and Teriyaki beef sausage will have to wait for another day.
One of the residents , a lovely young lady who treated me was so thorough and concerned.
When I was being discharged brought us all coffees and water and offered us snacks. What a great crew.
I had a lovely time in the abulance with the guys and my neighbors turned out to wave goodbye to me... I am loved friends and that means the world.
I was very sore yesterday and they kept asking if I hurt but since I hurt all the time, it was sifficult to tell them what was what. What is a 9 for you, is normal for me.
This morning I hurt pretty good but compared to how my spine usually feels, I am pretty good. How sad is that!
Upshot: I seem to be fine and will have a check up for my thyroid soon.
So, here is my Tuesday 4.
Welcome to Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4 which is not limited to Tuesday by any means. You can join in whenever you want to!
Will you be reading this coming summer?
When the weather gets hot and humid so many stay indoors to keep cool and studies show that people read more in the summer.
How about you? Let's discuss it.
1. Do you have a favorite kind of book that you like in the summertime? What kind is it? Mystery? Bio?...
I really do like mysteries but I also like books that are down home stories like the Little House series. I need to get into the Mitfoed series as well.
2. Is there a book you return to again and again and if so why?
Yes, a few of them including Early Autumn by RobertB. Parker.. you know from the Spenser for Hire books
And the Jesse Stone by Parker series.. I've also read Elin Hilderbrands beachy novels, and Summer in the City by Candace Bushnell. and Danielle Steel's 44 Charles Street.
I have an audio book of Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil read by Anthony Heald and I love to hear it again and again.
3. What book is better than the movie and what movie is better than the book??
Books contain a richer story but movies can bring characters to life . I think Gone with the Wind was better as a movie over all but the movie didn't contain even half the story!
4. Do you have a list of books you are looking forward to reading this summer?
Yes, I want to reread Early Autumn by Robt. Parker and I would like to try a Mitford book as well. I also would like to reread a book by Ellen Hilderbrand called The Island.
It takes place on Tuckernuck island off Nantucket in Massachusetts and is a love story about a family of women whose family have vacationed there for years and years. It brings the island, which is a real place, to life.
Thanks to those who've joined in and I hope more will do so. I am shamelessly promoting the meme and we need more participants. It's never too late to join in.

Oh, Annie, that fall in the shower had to be so scary for you. I am so sorry that happened, and I am thankful you are okay, if just a bit more sore and bruised, but nothing broken. And the thyroid definitely is something to have taken care of. The thyroid can affect to many other things in our bodies. Wow! Glad your family is near by and was able to come to your aid. I hope you get to eat that good food soon. (((hugs))) I enjoyed your post, and just finished writing mine too. I've just gotten back into reading this summer after not doing much reading all winter long. It feels good but my eyes get tired too fast. (I need to take more breaks and not try to do a marathon of reading all at once. LOL). Please take care of yourself dear friend. I'm so glad you are OK.
ReplyDeleteThat had to be so very frightening for you, Annie, especially since you live on your own. So thankful you were able to get help at last and were treated with genuine caring and thoughtfulness by the staff. You will love the Mitford series, guaranteed. Blessings and prayers for healing!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are back home...sore , but with answers to surprising new questions and kind people along the way ! You are wrapped in the prayers of all who love you !
ReplyDeleteSo sorry you fell! Nice that you got good care. I agree about GWTW and wrote about it too. Take care yourself.
ReplyDeleteAnnie, I'm so sorry you had a bad fall and I'm glad you were able to get to the hospital and have everything checked out. I too have one of those chairs and the legs have been loose for quite some time. I got the doctor to write me a new prescription and also for a pole to hang on to when getting in and out of the tub. Now I have to get to the medical supply or call them to come over and advise. Have you got a pole to help you in and out of the tub? I hope so. Our balance starts to go as we move on in age. I've never read any of the books you've mentioned though I did read several about Laura Ingalls Wilder. I've also read GWTW which seems to be a true favourite of many. Please take good care of yourself until next time. xx
ReplyDeleteOh, Annie! So sorry to hear about your fall! Scary but I'm so glad that you didn't break anything. You go through so much pain anyway - so to suffer from a fall as well....((Hugs))
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your answers. After writing my Tuesday 4 post, I thought of several books I read over and over again. They are usually my comfort books.
Take care.
Oh my! What an ordeal. I'm so sorry and so sorry it took so long for you to get to a phone. I'm glad it wasn't worse than it was, even though any fall is bad. I liked your answers. I also like a feel good book and maybe that's why I like cozy mysteries...they are mystery, but also feel good, fun, lighter.
