Reading

Rain, rain , chilly and breezy. This is the weather for now and I am not unhappy about it one bit.
This is the kind of days I love.     It has stayed in the ow 60's°F  I find it very pleasant.
I am fully enjoying drinking from my Vernoneware Tickled Pink tea cups.
They were manufactured in the 1950's by Metlox in California and I love the pattern.  I would love to have the whole set of dinnerware but for now I have a set of 4 cups.

Tickled Pink
The cup handle is so very comfortable on the hand and feels very secure.   I   think it makes my coffee taste better.
The pattern comes from Veroneware's Poppy Trail collection, a very 50's California style.

Let's do Tuesday 4 now.....

Welcome to Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4.   I don't think she realized someone would carry it on for her but it is a way to keep her alive for a bit longer and that is a good thing Books are very popular with most people as it leads to other worlds, other times, etc. and we seem to love the variety.

Books can change your life, your beliefs, your attitude.  They can lift up or tear down.
We have talked about books before but could be do it again?

!. What book has changed your perspective on life the most, and why?
I think most books are taken in an individual manner as far as what we see in it and take from it.
I found a lot of inspiration in the Robert  B. Parker book entitled  Early Autumn.  I have read it many times.   It is a story of resilliance and being tough in hard situations.  While it didn't really change my perspective, (my orthopedic surgeon said I was the most stoic person he had ever met and I can be tough in situations), what it did do was reinforce that this is an okay way to be.

2. If you could live inside the world of any book, which would you choose and what role would you play?
One of the things that attracts me to some books is where and when they take place.   The ambiance and lifestyle.
The Robert  B. Parker series of Spenser and  Jesse Stone take place in New England.. a place I adore.  So this would be a draw for me.

Spenser and Susan

I would be Susan Silverman... she's a good character but I would , of course, be a different style of Susan, a bit less of some traits and a bit more of others.
Jesse Stone

In Jesse Stone, I would have to be a new character being myself.   It would be nice to work in the Paradise Police Department under Chief Stone.

Anne of Green Gables takes place on Prince Edward Island another place that I adore and could easily live there.  I would be Anne.
I've been to Prince Edward Island a number of times and loved it more each time.
By the way, the number of young Japanese girls who visit is amazing! They just love Anne of Green Gables.  They are so sweet and polite too.

3. What’s a book you initially disliked but grew to appreciate over time?
It might well be  David Copperfield. by Charles Dickens.  I began it and stopped because I thought it was borning.  Later I picked it up again and read all through it and liked it very much.

4. If you could rewrite the ending of any book, which would it be and how would you change it?
Mrister God, This is Anna.   In the end, Anna falls from a tree at age 7 and dies impaled on the spears of a wrought iron fence.
It was a cruel and ugly ending for a sweet child.
From review:  "I bet Mister God lets me get into heaven for this," while dying. The narrator, Fynn, grapples with grief and anger towards God initially, but eventually finds peace by realizing Anna's spirit is within him"

  1. I love Anne of Green Gables too and would like to rewrite the ending of the last book I read by Charles Martin. Enjoy your cool day. It's hot and humid here in Florida!

  2. Anne of Green Gables is one of my favorites, too. I have to admit that I've never read David Copperfield. Maybe, that's one I should since I have liked everything else Charles Dickens wrote. Blessings, Annie!

  3. Very interesting answers! I enjoy stories set in New England - especially mysteries.
With the exception of "A Christmas Carol", I've never read anything by Charles Dickens. I've tried a couple (I can't even remember which ones). "A Christmas Carol" is one of my favorite Christmas classics and I read it every year. I've never read Anne of Green Gables either but I've seen the TV adaptation. Megan Fellowes did such a great job!

  5. Would you believe I'm Canadian but never read Anne of Green Gables? (I have watched different television series based on the books) I'm just so amazed at how many fans there are out there of the redhead. A lot of people even travel to PEI to see Lucy Maud Montgomery's home. It's hard for me to pick a favourite book but I love cosy stories about family relationships (The Shell Seekers), fictionalized history (Ken Follett's books) and if they're set in beautiful locations so much the better. I also enjoy stories that teach me something about other cultures and other lands (Family Matters, The Kite Runner, etc.).
