Drink plenty of water, eat watermelon for electrolytes and light meals, take a nap, save up for an air conditioner and make the most of it. Get a fan and keep your neck and head damp.
Above all.. try to bloom in the situation in which you are planted. Complaing rots the bones, and damages the heart.
Here is my Tuesday 4.. I wish more would join in. Like Toni, I am becoming discouraged.
Hello! It's time for Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4 and I am happy you've come by to take part.
I think finding reasons to blog and stay in touch with others, or to meet new bloggers is very important. Blogging also provides you with a record of your thoughts and ideas to leave for your family. It's a journal of sorts really that you share with others.
See Williamsburg in Virginia or see Plimouth (original colonial spelling) Plantation in Massachusetts where they recreate life in the late 1600s.

Summer is June 21st and people usually take advantage of the warm weather to take a trip or vacation or day trips to visit, shop or for recreation.
So could we talk about travel?
1. What are the most memorable destinations you've visited, and what made them stand out? (this could include places like museums, art galleries, etc. not only a vacation site.)
Driving across the USA following the routes the pioneers traveled was the most amazing and memorable experience of my life. Nothing else compares.
For a place to visit, I recommend the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.. go before the collapse of complete sanity there.
2. Which hidden gem locations have you explored that you'd recommend to others ?
Prince Edward Ialand. I especially recommend the Anne of Green Gables home and Lovers Lane.
Try the mountains in Virginia for a beautiful and unique experience. Lovely places and people. Timing chain on my Audi broke in Front Royal, Virginia.. Nicer people you will not meet. Lovely area in the
Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah Valley area. Itt took a few days to fix the car and people in town were so welcoming and wonderful. . Lovely good people and the scenery is beautiful.

For the beach, I highly recommend Cape May, New Jersey. I've written about it on the blog. Search Cape May in the search area to the right to see the articles.
Go see Martha's Vinyard, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, check out Vermont in autumn, Walden's Pond in Massachusetts, visit the home of Emily Dickenson, Herman Melville's Arrowhead estate. Go to Tarrytown NY home of Sleep Hollow , Rip Van Winkle in the Catskill mountains of NY back when it was still New Amsterdam.
Go to the Adirondacks, see Lake Placid. Upstate New York is nothing like NYC.
Drive up to Niagara Falls and visit Niagara on the Lake.

Trying Moxie while in Maine.. It was horrible!!
Here is a piece from the internet on it.. "Moxie is a carbonated soft drink with a distinctive, bittersweet flavor, known for being the oldest continuously produced soft drink in the United States. It's closely associated with Maine, where it's the official state soft drink, but it originated in Massachusetts. The unique taste is primarily attributed to gentian root extract, which some describe as medicinal or licorice-like. "
My cousin who grew up in Massachusetts loved it! My advice to you is to avoid it at all costs!!
4.What mode of transportation is your favorite for a long trip? How about a short trip?
I am a railfan, so ,you know ,I have to say the train is very nice for long trips and comfortable cars for are great for shorter trips.

I'm amazed by how many places you've traveled to, Annie. Wow! I have visited both Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard in the past when visiting relatives in Massachusetts. My favorite places are in the Nantahala Mountains in N. C. and the Great Smoky Mountains. Can't beat the scenery! Blessings!
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of Moxie, but if I'm ever in Maine I'll take your advice and leave it alone!! Your list of places to see sounds wonderful, I've seen a lot of territory in the central USA but never have traveled to the east or west coast. Driving across the USA following the routes the pioneers traveled is my kind of trip, I know it must have been great. I think you already know I'm a 'train' gal too!! Sorry I didn't join in today, maybe next week. Hope you're enjoying a very happy and blessed day.☺♥
ReplyDeleteGreetings , my friend ! We took time worn advice during heat waves , to hydrate (sipped Switchel during the day , from a very old recipe , good stuff !) , chill out , nap and check on loved ones ! I've travelled in the past , but my favorite place is the ocean on our coast !
ReplyDeleteStay safe , well and creative !
Ha Ha! Moxie is certainly a cultural experience for those who visit Maine. We lived there for a while, and I know my family all tried it except for me. I'm not into soda much and that just didn't appeal to me. But I knew a fellow who grew up there who would go out of his way to get Moxie and Red Hot Dogs...another Maine specialty, and had them shipped to him when they retired and moved down to Florida! I haven't don't this post yet, and I had planned to today, but we both ended up with unexpected doctor appointments, and that took up my writing time today. So I will try again maybe tomorrow, Lord willing and the creek don't rise! I love your posts and Toni's ideas and examples. Please keep it up and I promise I'll try to do better! I look forward to seeing what everyone else is writing. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteA very enjoyable post. Moxie doesn't sound like something I'd go out of my way for. A coast to coast road trip across the US is my son in law's dream. Whether they'll make it or not is another matter but I hope so. Have a lovely week.
ReplyDeleteThe Adirondacks are a gem, love the quiet and the trees, and the beautiful lakes...and the bears. A driving across the country trip from NY to Cali several years ago was a highlight for me, the different climates and terrains all in one country, astounding.
ReplyDeleteNever heard of Moxie and doesn't sound like something I would like
ReplyDeleteI always more people would join in on things as well. I wonder if they get discouraged if people don't visit. Sometimes I do..usually if I miss a week it's because time got away from me. I totally agree with reasons for blogging. I love meeting bloggers and. it's a creative outlet for me. I wish I had more time to just sit and read everyones blogs more thoroughly, not just the current link party. I would love to drive across teh US...trying local foods. I would LOVE to go to Prince Edward Island. I'd say it's on my bucket list. Now I'm singing John Denvers song...lol. Haha.. when I travel I like to find what foods, drinks, or snacks are popular and try them. I did not try Moxie. I did try blueberry soda which was surprisingly good. I can't remember what state that was popular in.
