Wednesday Hodgepodge

Hello!                It's Wednesday once again, a hump day as they say.
I am joining in for Wednesday Hodgepodge.

1. What gives you energy? What takes it away?
I get energy when I feel better.  Pain drains me completely sometimes.  I am having a real battle with it lately.

2. How often do you shop for clothes? What accessory do you always wear?
I haven't shopped for clothing in  several years.   I wear things until they just fall apart and that goes for shoes as well.
I wear no accessories at all most of the time.  I might put on something if I am going out.

3. What's something free that you feel grateful for?
Nature.
Hopefully it will remain free but I wouldn't count on it for much longer.

4. Breakfast, lunch, dinner...which meal of the day do you enjoy most? What's your go-to comfort food?
I like supper and potatoes are my number one comfort food.

5. This week the world remembers the tragic events of 9/11. Do you mark the day in any way? How do historical events shape your perspective on your personal challenges?
I recall how my mother enjoyed going with her friends to lunch at Windows on the World in the towers.
I don't mark the day except that I remember seeing the buildings smoking when we went for a drive up the NJ Parkway. I remember the people from my home town who died (my hometown  where I grew up  is what they call a bedroom town for NYC and is really only about  a 20 minute drive across the river and that's only because of traffic.  One of them worked for the Port Authority.
I a few counties away from there now.
I remember talking on the phone to a few friends who worked or studied in nearby buildings hearing their  description of what was happening.
I see what we've lost because of those those behind it who still have not paid for what was done and are getting bolder every day.

6. Insert your own random thought here.
I am enjoying the early Autumn weather here on the coast.   Humidity is very low, temperatures are chilly at night but moderate during the day.  Tonight it's raining lightly but small craft warnings are up and the sea is rough.

We've said goodbye to the tourists for this year  and the snowbirds are closing up their houses here to go back to their Florida homes.

If you've not joined in for Tuesday 4, please consider doing so. The link is at the top of my page and you can do it any day of the week.

Bye for now..............

  1. Hi Annie, sorry you are in so much pain. Are you glad when the snowbirds leave?

    1. They don't bother me at all like they do some people., I have a neighbor whose parents are snowbirds and she cries at holidays and her kids birthdays because her parents aren't around to celebrate with her little family. It breaks her heart.

  2. Being in pain constantly can't be easy, Annie, and I do hope you feel better soon. I always think of 9/11 and not just on the anniversary of that awful, tragic day. One of the charities I give to monthly is Tunnel2Towers, a charity about which you are probably very familiar. God bless!

  3. Wow! I can't imagine living so close and seeing the smoke, etc. I'm so sorry you are in constant pain. Potatoes are a good choice for a comfort food.

  4. As to potatoes : My Porch Garden this year included an 18" pot to grow potatoes . The harvest was about 2lbs of Red skinned potatoes , some of which were cooked and served with my dinner today , with re-growth scallions and butter ...yummm...
