Country Hodgepodge

Hello Friends!  I hope things are going well for you so far this week.
It's the hump day, the half way marker of the week.

Here is the Wednesday Hodgepodge.....

1. What's your favorite fall scent? Would we find this in or around your home right now?
My autumn perfume is Sweater Weather or Paris by Yves St. Laurant.
Around the house I like autumn scented candles and  pumpkin scents.  I am always ready for Balsam scents.
When I was seeing a lady for medical massage (who helped my health immensely) she burned Midsummer NIght by  Yankee Candle and I will burn that anytime of the year.

2. October is Country Music Month...are you a fan of country music? Yes I like country music.

Do you have a favorite country artist? I like Reba McIntire, George Strait, Hal Ketchum

Ever been to Nashville:  No, I've never been there.

In terms of lifestyle are you more country mouse or city mouse?    I am both in even amounts.  I love the country and I love the city.  Both have their perks and their downsides.  Most of all though I love small town living.  To me, it's the very best.

3. How about 'country cooking'? (loosely defined as rich flavors, familiar foods, large portions, often fried, and often associated with the southern region of the US of A)?

chicken and dumplings-fried chicken-shrimp and grits-biscuits and gravy-mac and cheese-fried green tomatoes-cornbread-collard or turnip greens-deviled eggs-'barbecue'-gumbo-banana pudding

Which of the foods listed is your favorite?  My mother made the best homemade chicken gumbo you ever tasted.  It was all peppery and good.  I haven't had that in a long time but as a kid I loved it.

Macaroni and cheese is a big favorite for me and I love fried chicken and chicken fried steak too and I make them every chance I get.

Any on the list you haven't tried or would say a firm no thank you to if offered?  No thank you to shrimp, clams, oysters, crab, lobster or bottom feeders of any kind.

4. What's something that always has a positive impact on your mood?   Doing  puzzles and listening to quiet music, usually soft jazz or the music of Andre Gagnon.

5. As we say so long to September share a noun, a verb, and an adjective that tells us something about how that month looked for you.   Noun:  September   verb: is   adjective: golden!

6. Insert your own random thought here.

September went by too quickly.   It was a beautiful month of cool temperatures with a  few very warm days.  It rained, it shined, it was just perfect.

  1. I’m in agreement that September seemed to fly by. It always does thanks to the gearing up of sports and the holidays. Have a lovely day!

  2. I love any candles with pumpkin scents. To me they are the scent of the season.
I am not a fan of cheese but I love making macaroni cheese for my family, it's one of their favourite dishes!

  3. Coming from the Hodgepodge...September went by very quickly when I think about it even though some of the days themselves were slow for me. I will have to smell that Yankee candle. I am a big believer in massage and its benefits.

  5. I do love country music, Annie. I really don't have a favorite performer, though. September really did fly by, I agree. Blessings!

September flew by for me too

Enjoyed your answers. I wonder if a massage therpist would be better for my cervical pain than the PT i'm seeing??? hm...I should look into that.
    have a great evening

    1. Both PT and medical massage helped me very much. Here on the Jersey coast we are in need of a bit more rain as well now.

  8. I like the Midsummer Night scent and have it in a spray too. I was in Yankee Candle the other day and they didn't have the smaller lidded jars I used to buy which I'll miss. I like the big jars, but have some holders that need the shorter jars. The new ones are fatter. My favorite Yankee scent is Citrus and Sage. We burn that one year round. Homemade fried chicken is a rare treat these days. I do like Publix fried chicken, which is our local grocery. It's good too. Enjoy the rest of your week!
