HodgePodge

Wednesday and another snowy countdown is starting. Will it or won't it? I am iced in and could use a couple of days above freezing to melt that pile of ice.  We missed the last round of snow as it stalled out in North Carolina just a hop, skip and a jump south of us.     They were welcome to it.

Here is this week's Wednesday HodgePodge... go on over and join in!!

 1. The Winter Olympics kick off on Friday, February 6th...on a scale of 1-10 how excited are you? (1= eh and 10=watching every event all day every day).
I am really not excited at all.
What's your favorite Winter Olympic sporting event?
It used to be women's figure skating.    I don't bother with the Olympics anymore though.

2. In other sporting news, the Superbowl (American football's championship game) will be played on Sunday, February 8th. So tell us...what's your superpower?
I guess my superpower is being stoic. At least my orthopedic surgeon tells me I am but I don't know. I think I would like the superpower of being invisible and indestructable whenever I want.

3. Are you romantic?   Yes, very much but I've always been alone in my romances.

4. Blue cheese, yay or nay? How about feta? If you said yes to one or both, what's a dish you like that calls for one of these?
I like all of these cheeses.   A Greek salad calls for feta and so does spinach pie. Blue cheese is wonderful anywhere and I like it on salad and as a dip.  Feta is good on soup too.

5. What's more important doing what you love or loving what you do?   I think they go together.

6.Insert your own random thought here.  Here in New Jersey the bays and parts of the ocean are frozen solid and people down in Cape May area are skating on the frozen ocean.  Here by the bay, they have the ice boats out as well and they are busy speeding all over the place!

Here are some photos stolen off FB all taken here this week  near my home on the bay/ocean.
Look at the frozen waves!  I don;t know who to credit for them but they are nice shots.

Keep warm, be happy, enjoy life as much as you can...

  2. I find it amazing that the bay area of the ocean is frozen! That is so "cool", literally! I love those pictures! I like the idea of being "invisible" and "indestructible" too. That could definitely come in handy! I have never been a bleu cheese or feta cheese fan. I know they are probably better for me, but just not a fan. Re: the Olympics. Hubby is upset that they are preempting the hockey games that he likes. It seems like even the Olympics have become too political and too many professionals competing. I do love to watch the figure skating, however.
It is still very cold here, but not as cold as where you are. And we still have that fire burning, mostly just putting out a lot of very stinky smoke now and that is very troublesome for our breathing and eyes and visibility on the road. Praying for the rain that they SAY is coming tonight. I sure hope so!!

  3. These are astounding photos, Annie. I can't imagine an ocean being frozen, but here it is! I'm not a huge fan of the winter Olympics, but I do like watching some of the events in the summer games, especially gymnastics. Have a wonderful day and stay warm!

  5. Skating on ocean water -- what a fascinating thought for a location that is south of the Arctic Circle!

Your blog is beautiful with the birds gliding across the screen. And your header with the lantern and soft colors -- so lovely!

  6. Brrr! Lovely photos but they make me feel cold! Here in Saskatchewan, Canada we've just come through a bout of brutal cold and not much snow. I can actually see my lawn right now which is unusual for this time of year. I've often thought it would be fun to be invisible too.

  8. What lovely photos ! When I was a child , the Peconic Bay would freeze over ! As it would begin to thaw , the tides would push great , thick sheets of ice to shore ! I'm grateful to be inside and in many layers , to stay warm . It's good soup weather !
Stay safe , well and warm !
