Things I Love with An S

My pond is a hub of wild activity this winter as birds and animals have no place else to find a drink.  The streams and creeks in my back yard area are frozen solid. The salt marsh is brackish water and of course the frozen bay is salt.  I've seen how important a pond can be to the command to  "dress it and keep it" in Genesis.
This year I bought a super duper pond heater that kept the pond ice free completely.  No other one I've had worked this way. They just opened a small hole for gasses to pass through.  But this one keeps the entire pond open.
I made my own filter which is a bog that filters the water keeping it crystal clear and clean. the bog aslo provides a place for birds and small animals to bathe and drink. Larger animals can drink from the sides. So this year I realized that going fully natural in the property is the only way to go. No more leaf raking... it provies a home for fireflies and other creatures to live. No more exotic plants just natuve plants that birds and animals can eat.
It is so easy to create a small water feature to help nature and costs very little to create and run.

Welcome to Sunday Stealing. Here we will steal all types of questions from every corner of the blogosphere. Our promise to you is that we will work hard to find the most interesting and intelligent questions. Cheers to all of us thieves!

  2. Your pond and all natural yard sound good to me. I wish I could do that for our pond, but it is much larger and doesn't really belong to us. We have to wait on God to refill it for us. We have kept a small kiddie pool filled with water on the ground for our wildlife. It did freeze over once, but mostly stays unfrozen here. It's just so dry everywhere, and the fire danger is very very high. Praying for RAIN...supposed to get some today. I love your "S" list of favorites. I love them too, although I really can't eat syrup much anymore.
Have a lovely Sunday...oh, we ate some "sundaes" last night as a dessert for our Valentine's Day supper...and Steak too! Those are some favorite "s" words for me! LOL.

  8. "Sweater weather" is such a great phrase. I'm always happy to break out my sweaters when fall arrives. I don't feel the same fondness for my short sleeved shirts.
