Your Town

  Welcome to Tuesday 4 begun  by Toni Taddeo and kept up in her memory. We are so glad to have you joining in!   You can make your post as elaborate or as simple as you wish. The object really is to share with others.

Camden, Maine

This week let us talk about a new town/city/village that you are going to create.   It is brand new.

1.  You are establishing a new community.    Where will it be located? What will the surroundings be like? Describe the environment and the weather which you get to create.

My town will be on the east coast of the USA in the New England area.  The weather will be based on 4 seaons which will be moderate and not extreme.

2.  You are in charge of naming this new town.   What will you call it and is it a town, village , city? Is it country, suburb or city? 

My town will be Chestnut Hill and the main street will be lined with beautiful chestnut trees and maple trees.   Our autumns are a spectacular blaze of color while our springs and summers are filled with flowers and blossoming trees.

In winter the town will be known for it's fairytale Christmas decor.

3.   What features will your new town have? Library? parks? restaurants?  Rural or metropolitan area? It is a rural/suburban area near enough to good shopping without being in the middle of the rush and crowds. We will have a lovely little library and a wonderful park around a small lake.  Our town has a few little restaurants including a hometown mom and pop diner that serves home cooking, a pizza shop and a fancier restaurant, though not too high priced.

4.  Your new town has a high school and it is your job to name it.  What name do you give it?

Our high school is Martin Van Buren High School named after our 9th president who was widely considered a genius in potical strategy.  He was the first President to be born an American citizen as the rest were British citizens at first.  His first language, however, was Dutch since he lived in New York state which had originally been a Dutch colony.   He was born in 1782.

Our school colors are blue and silver.
