Friday on the Bay

Thursday was 84°F and sunny as can be.  I wonder if the weather will stay like this or return to the chilly days we've had all spring.
Summer will be here June 21 with the Summer solstice.

I am joining in for Skywatch Friday.  If you've not gone there, please do, the photos are so gorgeous and from all over the world.

Photos on Friday

Photos on Friday have become a tradition in blog land.  I think it's a great idea to share a bit of the things we see around us with others.   It enlarages our horizons..
All photos are taken in my own neighborhood with a Canon camera .

March Rain

Rain, wind and chill were the hallmarks of this week.
Temperatures are still low early in March.
Friday is here at last !
Friday Fotos is gone as are so many other things as people move along to other things.   Some have passed on, others just changed or got bored I suppose and that's all so sad.
But photos on a Friday are a good idea and so I will continue and also join in with Skywatch Friday.
The following photos are all taken by me on my Canon Power shot right here in my own neighborhood.

Into the Woods

On a Friday these are the woods behind my house in different seasons. .  They go on for millions of acres as it is part of the NJ Pine Barrens.  The bay is to the left and the woods are honeycombed with clear sandy bottomed creeks.
As always you can click on the photos to see them full sized.
Here they are posing for their portrait in Winter  with a dusting of snow....

There is that lovely silver sky that only comes in deep winter!

Deep and thick. Home to some interesting animals. Silvery skies peeking through.
What kind of animals you ask? Deer, possum, racoon, fox, the occasional black bear, bob cats, beavers, otters, mink, ground hogs (wood chuck), voles, moles, all manner of birds, coyotes.  Actually there have been mountain lions (Puma, cougar, panther) photographed in NJ by a state trooper in his back yard.

And here  they are in Summer...

In Summer they are green and thick.     The fake alligator keeps herons/egrets out of the pond.   His name is Alex Gator, Ally for short.

Barkley Dragonfly visited me every single time I came on the porch. He enjoyed staring at me. Bad photo but, it is what it is my friends.

And in the autumn the woods are ablaze with color:

Woods are mostly swamp maples, scrub oak, holly, cedar, pine,  white and pink Rugusa (beach roses), beach plum trees. etc.

A Walkabout... Friday Photos

Lots of rain, lots of rustling leaves in windy skies, the Atlantic is more Pacific as it isn't warming up this year and after a lot of looking into things I think the year has sped up by about 3 months. I mean, come on folks, even kids are feeling the time is going by quicker.
It's not impossible.  It has sped up in the past from earthquakes, etc.  The Fukashima quake and tsunami moved Japan over by 8 feet and shorted the year so......
We have had more sun activity which just about blew up away down here on earth.   Several airplane crashes occurred seemingly due to that and the Yellowstone Caldera is quite active having had one big geyser blow it's cool this week .    It's closed down for the season.  Well, it will continue its mayhem but we won't be allowed to visit it, but just keep calm go to a game and eat hot dogs until you explode.
Mt. Etna has its knickers in a twist lately with a big explosion a few days back., Kilauea is having   iv tantrum, Stromboli is blowing and of course in the Biscuit Basin at Yellowstone.. kaboom!
Anyway, keep your eye on the sun and be prepared.  These things do not occur in a vacuum. What happens in one section of the earth travels round to other points and causes major disturbances.   Volcanos are very tired to the sun. On the 23rd a giant shock wave came from our sun and shook the earth up quite a bit... so expect earthquakes and volcanos to blow.    Keep watch and keep prepared.
Now here are some photos for this Friday...

A walk around the place can be a lot of fun on a quiet weekday.

The Jersey shore, my home.
I like the pink that melts into the bay.

Garnet sand is real crushed garnets on the beach.

Then you have to get ice cream at the corner store.

And then its time to go inside for dinner.

Passing Storms

Sometimes the sky is at war with the earth and sends down lightning bolts to shock her into sensibility.  There is no peace on the earth in reality. A struggle goes on daily and we are all part of it.

Earth shudders from heaven's assaults  but survives nonetheless.    We do as well in one form or another. In one way or another.

The earth sometimes retreats into hushed solitude.    The phragmites are way overhead thick and lush. You can hear the bay lapping the beach on the other side.     Overhead the storm gathers.
The bay takes on a dark  hue.  I wonder if there are boats underneath the storm as it stretches out to sea.

By nightfall the storm is over and it is a joy to sit outside breathing in the fresh  night salt air.  Each experience in life builds us into who and what we are.   We waste time complaining about things that we cannot change rather than enjoying it all for what it has to offer.
(Photos are taken in my neighborhood with my Canon camera or my Android phone for good or for bad, but I try.)
