The Beach

Summer is the best isn't it?   I am enjoying life right now as never before because I made up my mind to  do just that and not to worry or complain about time and seasons any more.
This week's Hodgepodge is about the beach.  Here is my take on it.

1. When does time pass slowly for you? When does time past quickly for you?
Time passes slowly for me when I am waiting for something to come in the mail, etc.
Time passes quickly for me when the holidays come.  They are never long enough for my liking.

2. Do you have a favorite beach? What's your favorite 'beach' activity? Tell us what we'd find in your beach bag.

My favorite beach is right where I live.    We have beaches galore, some with boardwalks and natural beaches with no amusements

The first photo is the beach just across from me.  I live on the bay side.

In my beach bag is the number 1 essential for the beach :

Johnson's  Baby Powder.  This is  a MUST have for removing sand from your feet!  Just dust them with powder and the sand falls right off.

Then comes beach towel, fold up hat, tissues,  hair scrunchie, brush, money for food. That's it.  If I am on the island park.. I pack lunch or just go home to eat and come right back.

And here is the beach within walking distance of my home:

3. Your favorite book or movie with a beach setting?   A  favorite movie is A Summer Place and also Peyton Place. Both are set in Maine on the ocean.  There is also Summer of '42 which is a good beachy movie.

Where the Boys Are hardly shows much beach but it is good and finally  Blue Hawaii is very nice.

There is a book by Elin Hiderbrand  titled The Island and it's very good.  Elin Hilderbrands books all take place in or around Nantucket.

4. What's a food you love, but find it's a pain to eat? Is it worth it?

Tacos are a pain sometimes  because I overload them so much but it is very much worth it!

5.  Do you like roller coasters? What's the best (or worst) roller coaster you've been on?

No.  I don't and never would go on a roller coaster.  My parents didn't allow it and my mother made me promise to never get on one.. so I haven't.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Here is some plain truth.....

  1. Sigh, so jelly you live so close to the beach. I always said if I could make a living just being on the beach, I would. LOL Have a great day, Annie.

  3. Your beach is out of this world, Annie! I never knew that about Johnson's Baby Powder, so that's a neat tip. Oh, and I hate roller coasters, too. Blessings!

  6. I prefer the more natural beaches but if we're traveling with children they of course want more of the boardwalk experience. I buy the stand and stuff taco shells which helps with the mess. Have a great day in your lovely beach town!

  7. You are blessed to live so near to the beach! And I never knew about using the baby powder for sand either! What a great idea! We haven't been to the beach in a long time, and we live in Florida! But it is at least an hour's drive, and there is too much traffic between here and there, and that kind of spoils it for us. But I would love to go and walk on the beach again when it is cooler. It's too hot to do much of anything right now! Love your pictures, and your painting at the top!!!

  9. You have very beautiful beaches where you live. I absolutely love them. We have magnificent waterfronts where I live but I wouldn't say we had the best beaches though they are certainly okay. Would you believe there are much nicer beaches in the far north of Alberta at the lake front than where I live now? By the way, thanks for the tip about the baby powder. I never knew that but then again I never really lazed on the beach too much. I like moving about. I agree with you that it's good to be happy and content with where we are at rather than complain. I try hard not to complain. Enjoy the rest of your week Annie

  10. Ahh! Something coming in the mail always seems to take forever!
How wonderful to live so close to the beach! I used to use baby powder or talc when I used to take my girls to the beach to get the sand off.
Tacos are so good but are so mess, I always overload them too. Oops.

  11. Although it's been awhile since getting to the ocean , it is a precious place of peace and deep joy for me . For sentiment's sake , I don't use powder to remove the sand , preferring to bring a tiny bit home in my shoes . Your headers are so lovely...I'm a big fan of your paintings !

  13. How lucky to live so close to a beautiful beach! I learned the baby powder trick at the beach when we lived on the Ocean City NJ beach, and it looks a lot like your photos, which I believe are from quite near there. Hope you're having a great week!
