Herman's Hermits |
Saturday 9: Listen, People (1966)
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it HERE.
1) Basically Herman is telling us that we each both break hearts and have our hearts broken during our lifetime. Do you agree?
Yes, I do agree. It goes with the territory of relations with others. It isn't always easy to make everyone happy with everything we do or say.Things get misunderstood, many people have feelings that are very fragile and are offended easily by a lot of things. And, also, there are some people who just don't care how they make other people feel. That is extremely sad. Overall I think most hurts and slights are unintentional.
2) He implores us to take his advice. Have you more recently given or received advice?
3) Herman's real name is Peter Noone. He was popular with girls because of his bright, toothy smile. How's your oral health? When are you due to go to the dentist?
4) Peter/Herman got married on his 21st birthday. That's one way to make sure you don't forget your anniversary. Do you have a good memory for anniversaries and birthdays?
Yes.I usually remember family dates.
Sure and I imagine most people have had that experience where something got out of hand or was overwhelming after a while.Usually, a short time out is all that is needed to be back up and running smoothly.
7) In 1966, TVs were expensive pieces of furniture. A set with a 16" screen and a wood console sold for $250, which is $1,950 in today's dollars. Tell us about your TV. How big is it? Where did you buy it?
My TV is a flat screen about 36 inches. It came from Best Buy I think.
8) David Schwimmer, aka Ross on Friends, was born in 1966. Who was your favorite Friend?
I didn't like the show at all. I can't imagine having a group like that for "friends".
Good for "Herman" and Mrs. Noone. 50 years! It's fashionable for people to rip on celebrities for marrying so many times. Nice to see a couple prove them wrong.
ReplyDeleteYes, I think its great :)
DeleteMy husband is a Ford man. I hard a difficult time convincing him to buy a Toyota but he likes the Camry now. I hope to be married 50 years, if I live that long. Another 15 to go.
ReplyDeleteI think its wonderful and hope you get many more than 50
DeleteI enjoyed the post, Annie. Hey, I just love your header. smiles
ReplyDelete:) Thanks Linda!
DeleteYour beautiful header has a sweet , dreamy , peaceful quality about it...
ReplyDeleteI so enjoy your artwork !
Don't have a Dream Car...think Corvettes are sexy , but would rather ride in one driven by someone who knows how to bring out its best...that's the thrill ! Had to trade in my beloved PT Cruiser when its "life support" expenses became unbearable...sigh...
Be well , my friend
I agree with work burn out. We must experience it to make us move on and grow. I also agree wit giving advice. I do not mind doing it, but you are right, people do what they want anyway and that is ok too. Loved your answers! Have a nice weekend!

I enjoyed reading your answers, btw, nice looking truck!
ReplyDeleteI could easily be a Ford F-150 kind of girl, but boy oh boy are the expensive!! Fun answers to this week's questions! Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteIf I ask for advice I usually take it. If it's unsolicited, well, that's another story.
ReplyDeleteThe folks who ask for advice seem to be the ones most likely to not take it every time. Nice dream car choice. I could like a truck but my husband has one so I'll just borrow his. I hope you're enjoying your weekend!
ReplyDeleteLoved Herman's Hermits back in the day. I try to listen to advice I'm given but I have to mull it over a bit. Have a great week.
