Uh Oh... What to Do? Tuesday 4!

What Would You Do?

1.   Coming home from a night out you notice your garage door opened. What Would You Do?
Dial my family to see if it is them. If not call the police to check things out.

2.   Getting ready to shop at the supermarket you realize you left your keys in the car. What Would You Do?
Use the spare key.
as good as homemade!

3.   Coming home from work tired you forgot you have guests coming for dinner and nothing to serve them. What Would You Do?
This has happened to me several times. So.....
I always keep some sort of pasta in the house (usually spaghetti and penne) and I keep several bottles of Mia Cucina sauce, made in
New Jersey  by Jersey Naturals.
I always have mushrooms, red bell peppers frozen, sun dried tomato, Romano cheese and Italian wine in the house.
I would saute the mushrooms, peppers and sun dried tomatoes and add them to the sauce. If I add some Sherry it would also make it special. If I have heavy cream I can add a healthy dollop of that with the Sherry to the sauce. Voila.. a lovely thick creamy Italian sauce. (trust me, its delicious).
I also always have ground sirloin in the refrigerator and I have a huge glass jar of basmati rice. I could quickly cook up Swedish Meatballs and rice and serve that with a vegetable.
If for some reason I have absolutely nothing, I would buy a couple of rotisserie chickens from the store. Our shop rite also always has cooked potato dishes and cooked veggies and antipasto, etc. I would get those as well and some cake or cannoli for dessert, or perhaps some berries and whipped cream.
The grocery is less than 4 minutes away from me.
If you put out good dishes, light candles and put some flowers on the table the guests will never know it was quickly put together.

4.   Your daughter calls you at work and says she missed the school bus and you have no car. What Would You Do?

Well, she would get the day off! I would tell her not to worry and just stay home. I am assuming she is old enough to stay at home alone, however.  When my kids were little I never left them alone and always was with them before school and after school.

  5. I'm coming over for dinner, smiles...I keep the same things in stock in the pantry (I'll have to look for that sauce, though). No garage here, but I would do the same.

  6. My mother-in-law is always ready for #3 too. She usually has a mean prepared and put in the freezer so she can just pop it in the oven. She also has a dessert in there too. It is a good idea, but we would eat it. Loved your answers! Have a great Tuesday!

  7. Oh, the pasta dinner sounds wonderful...why didn't I think of that? That's always a big hit! I don't have a garage, but if I did I would have to check and see what went wrong. Spare key? I won't ask where you keep it...that would let the secret out. We have one too, but I can't tell where it is either...
