Two Divided by Love (1971)
Unfamiliar with this week's song? You can hear it here.1) Sam's teacher told her she'd use math every day. What's the last math problem you solved? (Did you add to/subtract from the balance of your checkbook ... use division to figure out how much you'd
save with 25% off that sweater ...)
Today in figuring the amount of material and foam needed to recover 4 chairs. I find Algebra is something I use almost every week.
2) The lyrics tell us that if you take away the rain from a flower, the flower just won't grow. Do you
have any indoor houseplants? Could they use a drink of water this morning?
I do have indoor plants and they were watered a few days ago.
3) This week's artists, The Grass Roots, are introduced in this video by country music superstar Kenny Rogers. Who is your favorite country music singer?
I think George Strait, Josh Turner, Hal Ketchum., Dierks Bentley.
4) The two unmarried members of the group -- guitarist Warren Entner and drummer Ricky Coonce -- competed for a lady's affection on a 1968 episode of The Dating Game. Neither of them won! She chose Bachelor #1. Anyway, have you ever appeared on a game show? Do you know anyone who has?
No. I knew someone who appeared on Jerry Springer as a weirdo. He told me the shows are fake 100% and people were paid to act like idiots.
5) The Grass Roots were originally called The 13th Floor. They chose this cheeky name because many high rises do not have a 13th floor since 13 is considered an unlucky number, and they were thumbing their noses at superstition. Are you superstitious?
In some ways, probably.
6) At the time of his death in 2011, group leader Rob Grill was still playing music, touring with a reconfigured Grass Roots. His widow Nancy referred to him as "one lucky son of a gun" because he'd been able to support himself as a musician, doing what he loved for 45 years. In what ways do you consider yourself fortunate?
To be alive and have a family.
7) In 1971, the year this song was released, Walt Disney World opened in Florida. The Epcot Center was added in 1982. Have you ever visited this, or any, Disney theme park?
Nope and never will.
8) Fresh chicken was just 43¢/lb. in 1971. Do you prefer the breast or drumstick?
I like breast and thigh meat and cooked with lemon and garlic and Dijon.
9) Random question: Do you work well under pressure?
I can work under pressure, if its good work I am not sure.
Tomorrow is Sunday Stealing., so come and visit.
I remember hearing that about the Jerry Springer show a long time ago. I can't imagine needing money bad enough to act like that. Sheeesh.
ReplyDeleteLife is a very fortunate blessing! Family, too...at least for some.
Have a blessed Saturday, Annie!
No thanks on the reality shows...or whatever they are called. Have a great Saturday, friend. smiles
ReplyDelete"Reality Shows "??? Nothing scripted and filmed is reality !! The scary thing is that in real life , that is the reality for some ...awful...
ReplyDeleteOn a better note , that chicken dish sounds sooo good ! More , please !
Have a comforting day , my friend !
#9 -- That's a good point. I know I work harder under deadline, but that doesn't mean I work better.
ReplyDeleteReality shows ... ugh ....
ReplyDeleteI looked up some chicken lemon and garlic and Dijon recipes and they all look delicious!
ReplyDeleteI think that I will try it next week
What a fun way to start my Saturday! I loved, The Grass Roots growing up!
ReplyDeleteI've been to Disney Land, but once way enough for me. Your chicken recipe does sound delicious! Have a good week-end!
I enjoyed my visit.. Your chicken dish looks lip-smackin; good!
ReplyDeleteYour chicken sounds good. Recipe please?! I don't think you've missed anything by not going to Disney. We've lived in Florida most of our lives, and have only been twice many years ago. I prefer natural beauty and not artificial. And it is way too expensive, long long lines, and too much traffic. No thank you! I do work better under pressure, but am thankful to be retired now and not have so many deadlines to keep. I used math this past week to do our taxes. We are also trying to figure out how much paint/stain to get to finish our decks. That takes real math. I was a bookkeeper for many years, so, even though I was never a good "math student" in school, I was a great bookkeeper! (At least I think I was great...I got the job done and passed the audits!) Have a blessed day my friend.
ReplyDeleteI use math everyday and I agree with you on the algebra. I do use that from time to time.
ReplyDeleteThat chicken looks yummy! Loved your answers! Have a nice weekend!
