Home Sweet Home.. Tuesday 4

Welcome to Tuesday 4 where we ask 4 questions each with to get you thinking, blogging and getting to know your fellow Bloggers!  We do this in memory of Toni Taddeo who founded it and who was so beloved by so many.

This week, let's talk about your home town or home state.

Home Sweet Home

  1. What was your hometown like?   Or home state or both!  My hometown was small. You can walk from one end to the other very quickly.  When I grew up there we went home for lunch and the town was too small for buses so everyone walked to school.  We had a train station where my grandfather introduced me to the joy of rail fanning  while I was still pretty small!  We watched the trains all the time and once in a while took a ride on them too.     Everyone in town knew everyone else. That's how it is in a small town.         My home state is New Jersey which I love because of the autumn color, the lovely winters and the summers at the beach. We have the best beaches I think.
  2. Did you enjoy where you grew up?  Why?  I did enjoy it because my parents worked right in town a block from our home and when I was very little, we lived above where they worked. My father was a chemist but ended up opening an ice cream parlor complete with jukebox, dancing and marble counter. Later on it morphed into a stationary business.  The town was pretty and quiet so I truly liked living there.
  3. How much did where you grew up shape you?    I think it shaped me a lot because my entire family lived there and all the things I did were centered around the town and schools and religion. The whole town turned out for Christmas and the Fourth of July and the bon fire the night before the big Thanksgiving day football game between our high school and the town next door.  Things like that create a homey, good feeling.

  4. What were some of the best and worst things about where you grew up?  The best thing was having family all in one area and very nice neighbors.      The worst thing was that the town could be a bit clique-like from time to time.  Also small towns tend to be gossip mills and usually the gossip is mainly untrue!

  2. I know what you mean about a small town being very clique-like. Seems that with all your talents you would have been the Bell Of The Ball. You're so talented. Where I grew up, Titusville, Florida, was cliquish. I never was a part of that crowd. We didn't socialize 'cause anyone who had any sense didn't like my adopted Father. Seems like I was mostly on the outside looking in because home life so stressful.
    Have a blessed day. xx

  4. I enjoyed your description of your hometown so much, Annie! Sounds wonderful to have all your family so close by and to be able to enjoy family for all occasions. Also, the town activities, etc., yes, our little town did that too...parades, bonfires at homecoming, seemed like everything revolved around the school and churches. It was a happy time to grow up in the 50's and 60's. After that things just changed everywhere it seems. Thank you for doing this. I was late getting started because I had a lot going on yesterday and the day before, but I finally jumped in late last night. Have a blessed day.
