Tuesday 4... Books/Movies

This week the topic will be  Books and Movies.

1. Is there a hero or character on TV, in a book or a movie .. or even on all three, that you are especially like? What do you find attractive about them?

There are 3 characters I like in literature. One is Miss Marple because of her good sense and ability to see things as they really are.   The second character I like is Fred Halliwell , Scrooge's nephew in A Christmas Carol because of his decency and loving behavior.  The third character I like is  Captain Arthur Hastings from the Hercule Poirot series.  Hastings is an open, caring, good man of good nature.

2.  Was there a book that was better in movie form? How about a movie you thought didn't live up to the book?      I thought the movie Gone with the Wind was more expressive than the book and brought the characters to life in a very realistic way.  I also liked The Hunt for Red October in movie form.. wonderful action for a true to life movie.

3. When you choose a book, program or movie which subject it is most likely to be: science fiction, mystery, romance, comedy, documentary, etc.?     What draws you to a particular book or movie?   I am pulled in by all of them actually. I seem to like a rounded amount of all of them!  My taste in so many things is diverse.

4. How important is the title or picture on the cover of a book?   How much importance do you place on a movie because of the actors who are in it?

I place a good deal of importance on the title and the cover.  I will read the book or watch the movie if they convey an interesting or attractive mood/feeling/setting to me,

  1. Oh dear, is it Tuesday already? This one crept up on me! Loved your questions and answers. I don't know if I have much to share on this topic, but I'll think about it. Yes, the cover and summary or story captions on the back of the cover help me decide if it is something I'm interested in. I am particular about the types of books I read, especially the fiction ones. Non-fiction I choose because of the topic and/or person's biography. Sadly, I haven't done much reading this past year. Not sure why. Just haven't been able to settle down and read as much. I try to spend more time here reading and writing when I can. You all here in blogland are some of my favorite "authors" and story writers! Have a blessed and wonderful week.

  2. I didn't think of it, but I agree about the Hunt for Red October. The book was good, but the movie was maybe even better. Great casting and we have watched it many times over the years.

  3. Anne,

Thanks for hosting. I'm not sure if my comment will stay using Brave browser and if not then I'm gonna copy it before leaving so I can try in Firefox. I'm in the midst of moving away from Google and am requesting Blogspot authors to consider allowing commenters to have the option to use Name & URL. Some of my Blogspot friends have this turned on and that's how I know about it, so if you could make this available then I'd appreciate it, otherwise at some point my commenting will come to an end as soon as I delete my Google accounts. Alrighty, I enjoyed reading your answers. While I have not read any of the books you mentioned I have seen the movies like A Christmas Carol, Gone With the Wind, and The Hunt for Red October - all films which I enjoyed a lot. It's interesting just how important a book cover plays in peaking a person's curiosity. Have a joyous holiday season, my dear!

  4. Good Morning !
    Another interesting post !
I like your chosen characters , too , and my choices of books does depend on the dustcover summary .
I enjoy movies , when viewed with a friend (who has great taste !) , but like the experience of reading the books .
Beautiful sparkly tree in your header and the dear elf in the box indicates that you , my friend , are a gift to us all !!! Have a splendid day !!!

  5. Since you're a Gone With The Wind fan you'd like living in neighboring Baxley, Georgia. I see that theme everywhere: restaurants, library, etc. I'm not a fan and can't understand the fascination with it but I'm a Southern gal that prefers British stories and culture, so, I'm the weirdo. *giggle*
I enjoyed your answers. Can't wait to see how your pretty house looks after all the work is done!
    Blessings. xx
