Rainy Days and Movies

Happy days are here again!
Yes, it rained most all day yesterday and we may have a bit tonight as well.
We could use even more.
Leaves are turning here on the Jersey coast.   This lovely, slightly blurry photo of my wet backyard proves it! See those itty bitty red leaves there.. you can use a magnifying glass, it's not cheating if you do.
The Green Ash and the Wisteria are going a bit yellow too, so summer has had it friends.
The Green Ash is a miracle tree.  I will have to photograph it soon.   We cut it down.  It didn't want to die so not only did the stump begin to grow and bloom, the cut up logs all began to grow as well.  Its big again and I cannot cut it down since it has such a great will to live.
Sometimes God prunes us or let's us get chopped down to size as well.  It's up to us whether we continue to grow or give up.

My daughter cut down my huge and I do mean huge, beach rose.  It blossoms with lovely white roses once a year then develops rose hips.
I didn't want it down and ha! it regrew and multiplied.
Same with my wisteria.  They cut it down, the Barbarians!! Now I have even more Wisteria plants growing.    My garden is invincible with its ferns, mosses, purple vinca, violets of white and purple, and all manner of wild forest flowers.   The pond I built has gone natural as well quenching the thirst of all kind of wild birds and animals and frogs, clams and fish.
Nature finds a way because God programmed life and the will to live into each species  He created.

Last night I watched a lovely old movie on YouTube (its free) called Spring Reunion (1957) starring Dana Andrews and Betty Hutton.  It was a wonderful little story and I highly recommend it if you like old movies that are 100% safe and clean.

Come again when you can stay longer, won't you?
I wish I could serve coffee and cake when you come visit.

Till next time...

  1. This was delightful! I love it when trees and flowers and bushes have a will to live and thrive even after intense pruning and being left for "dead". God breathed new life into them and they will live on to give you blessings and flowers for many more years! It's a good lesson for us. Sometimes we just need that little extra pruning to become revitalized and renewed with new life! I totally agree. That movie sounds like one I would enjoy...yes I love the 100% safe and clean variety of movies! (and books). Glad you had a good Labor Day. Yes, we are appreciating the rains we've been getting as well. Our parched earth and pond needed it so much, and now Still Waters Pond is overflowing her banks once again! Hooray! Have a blessed and wonderful rest of your week.

  4. I'm so glad you got some rain! We are finally having a cool-down here in Idaho, a much needed cool-down. I love to story of the trees and bushes. Life always finds a way! I've had that happen before and it just reminds me that we are all being pruned and shaped by a Father who loves us and wants us to grow and thrive...what a great story! Have a great day!!
