Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love to answer the questions, however, and here is today's questions!
Saturday 9: New Attitude (1984)
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.
1) In this song, Patti Labelle sings that she feels good from her hat to her shoes. Do you often wear hats or caps?
I have a lovely dressy hat that I bought in a hat shop in Niagara on the Lake for several hundred dollars. It's gorgeous. I will take a picture of it some time. Yes, real ladies hand made hats are expensive but lovely. I have a collection of baseball caps I wear and many winter caps and hats as well. I really like hats.
2) The lyrics tell us that Patti's worries are few. Is anything particular bothering you as you answer these questions?
Not right now but I have some things on my mind. I try to not think of them too much. Most things pass.
3) The video for this song takes place in a high-end boutique. What's the most recent article of new clothing you bought, and where did you buy it?
I have not bought clothing in a few years actually. I wear things until they are rags really. My winter coat is 25 years old and one pair of my shoes is about the same age. I buy quality that lasts.
4) In 2019, a street in Philadelphia was renamed "Patti LaBelle Way." At the ceremony, she was referred to as "The Godmother of Soul." Do you have godparents? If yes, tell us about them.
No.
5) Patti dropped out of high school during her senior year. When she was in her mid-30s, she went to night school and earned her diploma. Do you have any diplomas or certificates framed and displayed in your home or office?
No. I am not sure where they are.
6) Patti was once engaged to Otis Williams, founder of the Motown super group The Temptations. Who is your favorite Motown recording artist? (Here is a list.)
Bobby Darin, The Temptations, The Four Tops, Michael McDonald.. many more.
7) A diabetic herself, Patti has volunteered her time to organizations that fight the disease. Do you know anyone currently dealing with diabetes?
Yes.
8) In 1984, when this song was popular, Angela Lansbury premiered in Murder, She Wrote, a show still seen in reruns today. Were you a fan?
Not a fan but I watched it sometimes.
9) Random question: What's your secret to a good night's sleep? Being sleepy! Works like a charm.
I also wear hats, grin. I always enjoy catching up with you my friend...smiles
ReplyDeleteWhat I remember most about this song is her hair and nails in the video!
ReplyDeleteI like to read for an hour or so before going to bed. I usually fall right to sleep. Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteI am the same on #3! I have favorite clothes and will wear those over and over. I replace them when they wear out. I do need a new heavy coat. Loved your answers! Have a nice weekend!

#3 I have a black wool winter coat that I have had for ages and I should see about getting a new liner for it.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading your answers Annie. Loved your last answer...Being sleepy...made me laugh! But really it is true.
ReplyDeleteHi Annie~ I have always loved, Motown! Michael McDonald, The Temptations and Marvin Gay are some of my favorite, but there are many more. I don't buy clothes very often, like you, I try to buy quality. I never wear hats, but I would like to, they just don't look great on me. Sleeping eludes me . . . Melatonin is how I get to sleep. Fun questions! Have a good day. Hugs, Barb
ReplyDeleteI don't buy a lot of clothes either. I am currently going through my closet and getting rid of things I don't wear. I have several of my mom's hats. She got a few in NY. I got to hear Michael McDonald in concert a few years ago with Chaka Khan.
ReplyDeleteThe tune is surely unique. Weekend means private planes overhead? That is surely a challenge to listen to every weekend
