After Midnight

I
t's a rainy night here on Friday as I write this with the remnants of Nicole dumping down some rain and whipping up a little bit of wind as she wends her way northward.
Rainy night

"Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love to answer the questions, however, and here is today's questions!"

Saturday 9: Walkin' After Midnight (1957)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune?     Hear it here.
This song reminds me of the TV series "Pretty Little Liars" where it became a clue to the mystery.  A false clue but it kept us interested for a long time!

1) The lyrics tell us Patsy Cline was out walking after midnight. Where were you at midnight last night?
Well Friday night I am safe and sound, warm and cozy inside as a rain storm rumbles on by outside.

2) She's sure she hears the night winds whispering to her. Is it windy, breezy, or still outdoors right now?
It is very windy here with some gusts over 50mph thanks to Tropical Storm Nicole.
3) When she was 13, Patsy came down with a fever and throat infection so severe she ended up in the hospital. She believed the illness changed her vocal chords and enabled her to sing in a lower key. How are you doing this cold and flu season?
I usually do okay and I use Listerine which is a life saver against colds.

4) Patsy is well remembered today not only for her voice but for her generous spirit.    Loretta Lynn, Dottie West and Barbara Mandrell all considered Patsy a trusted personal friend and professional mentor. Have you ever been a mentor?
Yes, I think I have been for many people.

5) Patsy had a tough side, too. While traveling by bus and playing one-nighters, she found she and her band sometimes never got paid for their efforts. So she began demanding payment -- in cash -- before they would take the stage. She'd insist, "No dough, no show." Tell us about your tough side.
I am not afraid to tell you "no" and I stand up for myself.  I can be very formidable sometimes.   I don't get bullied because I fight back hard.

6) Patsy became the first female country star to headline at a Las Vegas showroom. Who is your favorite country performer?
George Strait and my favorite country song is Amarillo by Morning which makes me a bit homesick for the west.

7) In 1957, the year this song hit #2 on the charts, embroidered cotton handkerchiefs were a popular present for the ladies on your gift list. Do you own any handkerchiefs?
I have a ton of embroidered hankies that I got from my Mom and Grandmother.   I love them so much. Some are so dainty and gorgeous.

8) 1957 was a banner year for Elvis. He released four hit records, two top box-office films, and his TV appearances topped the ratings. 65 years later, he is still recognized the world over by his first name alone. Can you think of another performer for whom one name is all that's required?
 Liberace!
One of my favorite songs:  I hope people play it when I am gone....

 9) Random question: What's the most embarrassing story your parents (or siblings) tell about you?
None.  I had a semi sister who liked to bear false witness a lot. She was an adult and I was a little kid and she thought it was funny.   It wasn't so I had little to do with her. She was awful to me.👿😠

  1. Hi Annie~ First of all, I love Patsy Cline. She has always been one of my favorite singers. Walkin' After Midnight is one of those songs I know by heart! I'll just answer a few questions...I'm basically quiet, especially around others, but don't ruffle my feathers too much, especially about anyone I care about or I will let you have it...I'm not afraid to stand up for myself. My favorite country singer has always been and will always be, Ray Price. He has an amazing album that he made when he was older called, Beauty Is...it's worth looking up. I was a pretty rotten, strong willed kid. I don't like hearing stories of how terrible I was ;0) Have a great week-end! Hugs, Barb

  4. #1 Same here, we had the remnants of Nicole come through last night.
#2 Ditto, the wind and rain wake me up last night.
#8 My parents loved him and of course as a teenager I couldn’t like anything that my parents liked but I listened to the show covertly.
