Steer in the diction of the skid!!! Ease up on the accelerator and don't brake... pump the brake a little instead, We have snow tires and studded tires but just make sure your tires are properly inflated.
Best idea: stay home! After seeing the chaos after Texas' last snowy encounter it is clear you people do not know how to drive in anything but sunshine.
Here is an article on how to handle your car in case of skid and sliding. Here is another.
It's much nicer inside with a hot drink, some snacks and a good old movie. What's on your menu on a cold winter day?
What do you think and what is your weather like today? It's in the teens here at night.. very blustery and a little bit of snow.
Stay home, stay warm.

Thanks for the info! Cold here, very cold, but not snowing...YET!
ReplyDeleteYes, we are expecting that snow and will be hitting the store today before the "rush." And if you saw our driveway, you'd know we won't be out on the roads until all of the ice and snow melts. Have a great week, Annie!
ReplyDeleteI maintain a small emergency pantry , with canned foods that one is able to eat with little or no heating , including shelf-stable milk and crackers . Paper goods and misc. useful items for comfortable existence are in there , too . We have winter every year , and with it , the possibility for power outages . I am more comfortable dealing with weather effects if everything possible has been done before the season arrives .
ReplyDeleteAlthough it was 32 this morning and will be again tomorrow, we don't have any ice or snow to skid in, at least none that I know of. Still, it's too cold to be out and about very long, so we are staying home as much as possible where it is warm and cozy. I do know how to drive in winter weather, however, as we lived in New England and Michigan and Ohio, but we are much happier here in Florida in winter. Wouldn't mind being back up in Maine for the summer months if I could afford to be!! Enjoy some snow for me, okay?
ReplyDeleteI live along the Texas coast so rarely see snow, so no worries about how to drive in it. Although, I've lived up north and know there is a skill to handling icy roads. Even though we didn't get the snow and ice it's still brrrrrrcold. Mr D and I are snuggled in with hot coffee, snacks and hopefully we can find some good movies to watch!!
ReplyDeleteWe're expecting a winter storm and snow here in East TN today and tomorrow and I will definitely be staying home! It's been so cold here and I'd much rather stay inside with a cup of herbal tea and a good book. Stay warm and safe up there!
