Holiday

Happy weekend friends .
The wind is seriously wild here today and it will continue into the night, but I have a pot of bean  chili made with some chipotle powder, and some nice sour cream to top it off so the sounds of the wild wind howling through the cedars and pines will be welcome and make things very cozy indeed.

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

 From the archives

1. As you can see, when Sam Winters was a little girl, she loved giving her annual wish list to Santa. If you could ask Santa for anything at all, right now, what would it be?

An end to the nonsense in the world.  Another Purim in Australia would be nice. . Good luck with that, I know.  I would ask him to not allow the Kennedy Center name to be changed.
2. Are you currently on the Naughty or Nice list? How did you get there?   We say that to be nice to the evil is to be evil to the nice.  I hope I am on the nice list but let me never tolerate evil.

3. Are you traveling this Christmas? If so, are you going by car, plane or train?
I am staying home, no travelling hopefully.

4. Did you ship any gifts to friends and family this year? If yes, which one traveled the farthest?
Nothing is being shipped out this year.

5. Did you buy yourself a gift this year?  No, but thinking about it.

6. Which do you prefer: candy canes or gingerbread?  I like Gingerbread.    I like it as long as the cake isn't dry but is nice and moist and served with tons of whipped cream and a hot cup of tea.
However, I don't eat sugar and carbs so.. not having any cakes or candy at all.   The best gingerbread mix was by Jiffy but it's discontinued.   Most other gingerbreads are way too spicey. I've yet to have one
I liked at all and I am no fan of gingerbread cookies.
7. Can you see any holiday decorations from where you're sitting now?
Yes. I see menorahs in windows on some houses and lights on others, trees in front windows.

8. What's your favorite winter beverage?  Hot tea!  It goes with everything. I used to like hot chocolate with tons of marshmallow but can't have it anymore.

9. Share a memory from last Christmas.  For me, holidays are always about the people involved and the things we do together.

  1. I like gingerbread too and just like the way you like it. A nice cup of hot cocoa sounds nice, I have some pumpkin tea on the counter, I might drink some of that. Wishing you a lovely Saturday my friend.

  2. He already put his name on the building wall.

We were at Jones Beach last night for a holiday light show and the wind was absolutely wicked.

Purim in Australia? Sounds like it was fun.

  3. I like peppermint and gingerbread. I had to stop drinking peppermint tea because of acid reflux. I try to watch my sugars and carbs. It is really hard during the holidays. Healthy carbs is okay, veggies and healthy grains. I don't have a front window to display my menorah. I put it on the entryway table. When Hannukah is over, I will replace it with a Nativity. I did participate in Tuesday 4.

  4. I love gingerbread, it's so Christmassy and smells soooo good. The people across the street have a blow-up Santa and Frosty that I can see, the problem is, they're always deflated. Those things don't stay inflated very long, not worth the trouble to me.

  5. A cup of hot Christmas tea with a piece of warm homemade gingerbread with whipped cream on top would be really nice just now. My mother used to make it and put a thin confectioner's sugar glaze on top while it was still warm, and then the whipped cream. I think I'd leave off the glaze now and just go with the whipped cream. It's easy to make without a mix...so I may have to think about that. And yes, Christmas memories are about the people we love and enjoy being together to celebrate the Savior's Birth. I hope your day will be filled with joy and many blessings.

  6. I do love sending/getting Christmas cards this time of year. We didn't send out gifts this year because family is going to be with us the day after Christmas for a week. That's the best gift!

  8. I had no idea Jiffy had gingerbread mix. I love their cornbread and wouldn't hesitate to try the gingerbread if it were still available.
