Tuesday 4 Music, Music, Music!

Welcome friends!  Good to see you back for another Tuesday 4 where we keep Toni Taddeo's weekly blog post alive.  I hope you are enjoying them.  This week let's talk about music and entertainment shall we?

1. What kind of music do you like the best?
I like so many different kinds from jazz to classical to Gregorian chant and I listen to them all.

2. Does the radio play in your car and if so what station or kind of music plays?  Does music play in your home often?

I do not like music when I drive.  It's fine when someone else is driving but I require total silence!

3. What do you think of the music played in restaurants or stores? Do you find it relaxing or annoying?  I think the music in restaurants is very annoying and out of place.  The whole world does not need a rock theme going on 24/7.   I seriously have a dislike of rock music in every single restaurant, store or venue.     Your fine 5 star restaurants do not play it.    There was a lovely Italian restaurant that played Frank Sinatra and Italian music and that was very nice.     Rock music is on practically every station on radio and it is just wrong.   It's childish music in the first place (now don't get upset I do like it... just not the over kill we have of it today where it permeates EVERYTHING).      Time to broaden horizons I think and branch out with  more variety.

4. What part has music played in your life? What kind of music played at your wedding or at parties you have been to?

At 3 I was given a little record player and my own records. My favorite song then was the Tennessee Waltz and  Three Little Pigs!     I spent a lot of my day with music.
At my wedding  Trumpet Voluntary was the processional and the recessional was Charles-Marie Widor's Toccata and Fugue.      My grandmother was too old to play it for me and you have to be extremely good to play it but we found someone who could . My grandmother was a professional pipe organist who taught me to play as well and both my parents played too.
Here it the song.. which is an all time favorite for me.  This version is played here in New Jersey at our beautiful Cathedral and Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Newark.
I did not leave completely which annoyed people.. Hey it was my wedding!!  I sat down to listen to the entire recessional as I knew how difficult it is to play and I was not about to walk out on this miraculous song.. Goose bumps friends.. You must hear it live in a big venue on a serious pipe organ.   I could go on and on about the most marvelous instrument in the world.

  1. That was very interesting! I just listened to that whole piece...amazing...my ears are still ringing! It certainly takes a lot of talent to play anything on a big pipe organ like that. Very fascinating. Thank you for sharing it with us.

  5. I don't mind music in restaurants as long as it is not too loud. However, I prefer something besides hard rock.

  6. I enjoyed listening to the video. What a beautiful church too! I remember seeing the Organ Pipes at the Old North Church in Boston. I really loved the music from Phantom of the Opera!

  7. We had a church organist who would play Windor's Toccata for the postlude after the church service a few times a year. When he did, very few people would actually leave and most would stand as close as possible until the end of the piece. It is glorious!

  8. I enjoyed your answers. Isn't it fascinating to read everyone's thoughts. I have to have music when I drive. or something, unless I'm bothered by something and just need to "think"
