Broken Heart Girl

W
eekends are not as special when you are not working and that is one reason work is so beneficial for people.   The only negative is that people then have a problem with Monday.  We are never satisfied are we?   We find fault with the days, the seasons, the weather, just about any subject leads to complaints and finding fault.   I suppose it's a human trait.

As I write this the weather is cold and it will rain tomorrow and be in the high 50s to 60°.  Just crazy.

I am going to join Saturday 9 again this week.

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9
questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love to answer the questions, however, and here is today's questions!

 Saturday 9: Broken-Hearted Girl (2009)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune?     Hear it  here .

1) In this song, Beyonce admits her feelings for a man she doesn't want to love. Do you believe we can choose who we love? Or does the heart go its own way?
We choose who to love.  Love is something you do.

2) In the video for this song,   Beyonce plays with a red rose. Florists report that the most popular colors of roses are: red, white or ivory, yellow, pink, peach or orange, and lavender or purple. Do you have a favorite?
I like White roses tinged with pink. I also like pink and yellow ones as well.

3) The video was filmed in Malibu. Southern California is a popular vacation destination. Have you ever visited there? Have you ever lived there?

No, I have never been to California.

4) When Beyonce was just 12, she appeared on the show Star Search as part of a vocal group called Girls Tyme. The girls lost, but Beyonce said the experience taught her that she wanted to be a performer for the rest of her life. Share a memory from your own junior high years.
I won several medals running in track events.  Junior high was when giving out the birthday corsages to friends really was important.  We had a science teacher who instead of teaching us regular science took a year to teach us about aviation.
It began at age 10 with the lollypops, 11 was gum drops, 12 tootsie rolls, 13 bubble gum, 14 dog biscuits, 15 lifesavers, 16 was sugar cubes.   It was a lovely tradition.

5) As a girl, she helped her hairstylist mom by sweeping hair at the salon. Do you have a hair appointment coming up?
No. It's been over a year since I had an appointment.

6) In 2009, when this song was popular, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg unsuccessfully tried to buy Twitter. Elon Musk acquired Twitter last month. What social media sites do you spend the most time on?
The most? I try not to spend much time on any.  I spend most of my time reading online and in courses I am taking.    The next amount of time would be on Blogger where I spend time manipulating the templates and the CSS etc. as I truly enjoy that.  I check Twitter for some news and Facebook for my lovely online friends.

7) Also in 2009, Sony sold floppy disks at most retailers. But things change fast in the world of tech and by 2011, Sony quit producing floppy disks altogether. Floppies were replaced by flash drives, which have been replaced by cloud storage services.   Do you still have any floppy disks?
No.

8) In 2009, Michael Jackson died. Do you have a favorite Michael Jackson song?
No, I don't.   I was just not a fan.

9) Random question -- We're having a Saturday 9 potluck lunch! What will you bring?
I will bring Swedish Meatballs.   And by the way I put a nice recipe for them on my   Rock & Roll Café
.    Stop by the food is great!

  4. I haven’t had Swedish Meatballs in ages!
My mother used to make them every Christmas for the neighborhood Christmas party and we used to sneak them before they left fort the neighbors. I think she made extra because she knew we would be sneaking them.

  6. I believe we are the only two who said love is a choice. I think too many don't know the difference between love and infatuation.
