Mirrors

Hi  Friends... on an off and on  rainy Saturday.   How's by you the weather?  They say the Northeast is going into a drought. Hmm, hope not, but we need some rain for my  weed lawn.

From Sam Winters: "Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love to answer the questions, however, and here is today's questions!"

Saturday 9: Mirrors (2013)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune?    Listen to it  Here.
Justin Timberlake, Mirrors

1) Is there a mirror in the room you're in now? Yes, there is a mirror over my desk.

2) In this song, Justin Timberlake tells his lover he just can't wait till they're together. What are you eagerly looking forward to today?
Nothing in the "eagerly" range.

3) Justin Timberlake is known as a sharp dresser who is always on trend. What item have you recently added to your wardrobe?  I have not bought clothing in a few years.  I am not big on clothes and etc.

4) Justin was an accomplished child performer who appeared on the entertainment competition show Star Search when he was just 11. When Crazy Sam was 11, her only job was loading and unloading the dishwasher, for which she received an allowance from her dad. Did you have chores when you were a kid?      No. My grandmother said I would have enough to do when I got married. She was right and I just fell into things easily as an adult.   I did paint the back porch each summer however. My Daddy taught me to paint it and then I did it every year.   I painted my bedroom when I wanted a change and I liked using the electric hedge cutter so I cut the hedges . But I never did a dish or made a bed or anything like that till I was married and I fell right into the swing of things from day 1.
Since I had Home Ec from 7th -12th grades I knew how to cook and manage a home.   11th and 12th grades were home management.   And I took sewing for those 6 years also so I could sew pretty good.  I learned embroidery and etc. in Girl Scouts.  I was a scout from first grade until high school and got my Curved Bar which is equivalent to the Boy Scouts Eagle Scout.  So I wasn't completely without training.

5) He says he tries never to miss breakfast, even on the road, and his favorite is peanut butter banana pancakes. Given the choice, do you prefer pancakes, French toast, or waffles?    I like all three but I suppose pancakes are at the top of the list for me.

6) When they were still in their teens, Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears were sweethearts. Obviously it's been easy for him to keep up with her successes and problems over the years. Do you wonder what one of your exes is up to?     No. I know what they are up to but I really am just not interested.

7) In 2013, when this song was popular, Pope Benedict resigned. Thinking of your working life, have you felt greater stress on your first day at a job, or your last?     I don't recall feeling stress on a job at all. Well, I guess first days I was somewhat nervous.

8) Also in 2013, the NHL owners reached an agreement with the players union and avoided a strike. Have you ever belonged to a union?     Yes, a couple of them: the AFL-CIO-TWA and ALPA, Airline Pilots Association.

9) Random question: When was one of the first times when you felt like an adult?   I am not sure how that feels. I feel like me but I am not sure there is a line that separates how you feel  in your head about stages of life.   There is no written list of what it feels like is there?
I remember Kailyn Jenner saying "I feel like a woman". I thought, what  does that even mean?  As if women are made with a cookie cutter and we all feel a certain way?  I don't think so.  Every human being is like a snowflake and very different. So I have no idea how to answer things like this. You might as well ask me if I feel like a giraffe.
Also, if you say "I feel like a piece of pie" you don't mean you feel as if you are a pie.. but that you want to eat a piece of pie, right?   Now read that question again with that in mind.
"I feel like a soda right now"
"I feel like an adult"
"I feel like taking a break".
"I feel like a woman"
"I feel like a tuna sandwich"

Take care friends!

  1. Interesting questions and answers. I feel like I ate too much right now. We went out to supper with the kids and I did eat too much. I did feel like an adult when I got married. I was still only 18, but was turning 19 in a few weeks. I look at 18-19 year old kids today and wonder how I ever managed to be so mature at that age. LOL. But I was much more mature than what I see out there today at that age. Life was just different then. We weren't pampered and spoiled. I did have chores and I didn't get an allowance, unless you count the nickel I got with my lunch money IF I made my bed. Then I could buy an ice cream bar after lunch. But I had to clean the bathroom and dust the furniture and my sister and I always did the dishes. I also had home ec and was a girl scout, so I learned a lot there, but most of what I learned my mother had already taught me at home. Thank you for sharing this post. Your answers were all very interesting. Were you a pilot??? Just wondering. You've done some pretty amazing things in life! Take care and God bless.

  3. So much training you had on how to be an adult! My school had home ec classes but nothing of the scope you had. It's a shame. Young people today seem to be truly clueless and unprepared about certain things.

  4. I love how much Home ec you were able to take. We just had one year where we practiced cooking and sewing.
I love that you learned how to paint well. I liked to work with my dad in the yard, so I learned things like that...mowing, weeding, planting flowers. I painted the house some with him, but I wouldn't say I learned how to paint. He was doing all of the hard work. Loved your answers! Have a nice weekend.

  5. Your answers about home etc were interesting, in our day girls took h9me etc and boys took shop, right? My daughters took both, and so did the boys in their class. Life skills are important, aren’t they?

  7. #3 Ditto, I am not a big fan of buying clothes. For one thing I’m losing weight and all the clothes that I have are getting too big for me.
#5 Strawberries are on sale so I bought two and this morning I had strawberries and whipped cream on my pancakes.
#8 A friend was the union organizer for the Service Employees International Union
