It's 98.5°F at 4:00 in the afternoon here. The heat of the sun felt so good on my always painful spine as stood on the porch feeding the fish. Hot weather? Bring it on baby!
No sooner did I publish this and it grew stormy dark and we are expecting a severe thunderstorm sometime after 7PM. Well.. as I said, maybe. You never know!
Here is this week's Saturday 9....
Saturday 9: Rhythm of My Heart (1991)
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.
1 Stewart sings that the words "I love you" roll off his tongue. When did you most recently say, "I love you?"
I say it everytime I see my children.
2 In "Rhythm of My Heart," he recalls running down the alley with his lady love. Does your neighborhood have alleys?
No. My mother's hometown has alleys and you can park behind your house and go in the back door. I love that.
3 Rod is well known for his coif. Are you having a good hair day today?
Usually, sure.
4 Rod was the youngest of 5. He remembers that, as a family, they enjoyed singing with Al Jolson records. Did your family have singalongs?
YES!!! Everyone played piano, everyone could sing and sing and play we did, especially when we had company over and they sang and played too! Music is in our DNA!
5 He is proud of his luxury car collection, which includes a Rolls Royce, a Ferrari and the one rumored to be his favorite: a classic mid-70s Lamborghini Countach LP400 Periscopio. Looking back on years as a driver and a car owner, which vehicle is your all-time favorite?
A wonderfully comfortable and big Mistubishi Outlander.
6 Rod turned 80 this year and he's still touring. Once known for his hard partying, he takes better care of himself now and rides a stationery bike every day. What steps do you take to keep fit?
I try to move and exercise my legs as often as possible. I eat a clean diet. I have a small sit down bike.
7 In 1991, when this song was popular, Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry died. Do you have a favorite Star Trek character?
I did really like Spock. Do you recall his hand sign? You might be surprised to know that Leonard Nimoy was using the sign the priests would display with both hands while blessing Israel:
"The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you; the LORD lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace"
I also liked Scotty a lot... "The engines gonna blow Captain. She canna take much more". I really just liked them all.
8 Also in 1991, Seinfeld was a big deal on network television. Today the entire series is available to stream and on DVD. When you binge a show, are you more likely to pop in a disc or turn to a streaming service?
Streaming.
9 Random question: Have you ever cared for a hamster or a gerbil? (Extra non-existent Saturday 9 points for its name.)
Yes one of the kids had a hamster. I am not sure they ever named it.'The Little had a hedgehog named Squishy.
Today's Seaside photo:

That's so interesting about Leonard Nimoy. I wonder if he's the one who shortened the traditional benediction to "live long and prosper."
ReplyDeleteThat was his idea, too
DeleteI did not know that about th4e Spock hand sign. Cool! Love the picture of the seaside! Loved your answers. Have a great weekend.

My father was a Kohen, I saw him make that gesture once.
ReplyDeleteI loved Star Trek as a kid, Annie, and Spock was my favorite, too. I never knew that the hand gesture was used as a blessing by the priest in Jewish traditions. How cool is that? You have a great weekend, too!
ReplyDeleteWow on your temp. You can keep the heat and humidity, wait, do you have humidity there? smiles
ReplyDeleteSpock was always very cool.
ReplyDeleteWonderful header...beautiful beach...can almost catch that salty scent in the breeze !
ReplyDeleteThank you !
I know Aaron's blessings from Numbers 6:24-26. I did not know about the hand sign. When I went to church youth group 1967-1973, we ended our group saying the blessing verses. We met on Sunday evenings. You are really hot out there! That is not unusual weather for us during the summer but we don't get the humidity. We have had a mild summer so far. It was 83 today and it will be in the high 80's next week. Your seaside picture is wonderful!
