Sunsets and an Aurora

Tonight (Thursday) is a very chilly night at only 48F.     The day was very cool as well since October is settling in full time.    As I write this I hear the barn owl hooting in the trees by my house.   I love that sound so much.

The Little is in the land of her ancient  Mitochondrial DNA.. the Iberian peninsula.   She landed in Lisbon, Portugal yesterday and then today she is in Spain and will be for a week.  

She was super excited.

Haiku and Photos

Another Friday, sunny and warm with storms expected. How quickly the weather changes. Spring is well on her way with only a month left to go. Summer is hot on her heels now. Wednesday I vacuumed out some drawners in postions I have not assumed for over a decade because of my spinal problems. Thursday monring I could barely move the pain was so awful. I see which sets of muscles need to get moving!! This was definitely a call to awareness.

Don't you just love watching the changing skies?  They are never the same and change hour by hour, day by day into the most beautiful shapes and colors .
I study the sky for my paintings but I can never reproduce the real thing in all its glory!

Midnight on Friday morning and 28°F. I kind of wish it would snow.

My birthday is on the 25th, the day after Thanksgiving.  My youngest daughters birthday is the 22nd.  The Famous Anonymous is December 1 and the Little is January 7th the Orthodox Christmas.   

I am taking my family out for dinner  (not birthday related, just for a chance to be with family) sometime this weekend when everyone is available.  It's been a long time.

The weather here has been lovely though chilly, but then I love chilly weather.   

In upstate NY they are getting thunder snow tonight!   So rare. but exciting in the winter.  Weathermen are saying they have never seen anything like it.

I am joining in with Skywatch Friday and of course Friday photos though no one hosts it anymore.

The Gold of October

Good evening!   Those words usually put me in mind of Alfred Hitchcock who opened his TV program with that greeting. 

This has been an uncomfortable week physically with terribly humid days. One very foggy day was 100% and very nasty  if you have injuries or etc.    Tonight it is cold and windy by the seashore.   I do hate to see October go as the song says.   It is a wonderful month full of glory and color.  To me, it is the nicest month of the year.   

Some pretty photos will make the weekend better I am sure so I will join for Skywatch Friday and Friday Photos though it no longer has an official site.
